VeloLiberty. Days 53–56. June 23–26, 2025. Bologna, Italy

My cycling tour across Europe continues, and I spent four days in Bologna — one of the most atmospheric and authentic cities in Italy. This thousand-year-old city amazes with its architecture, cozy streets, famous medieval towers, and the world’s oldest university, founded in 1088.

In Bologna, I met with representatives of the city’s largest cycling association and visited Velostazione ExDynamo — a unique space for cyclists in the heart of the city, combining parking, a repair workshop, a cycling café, and a sustainable mobility hub.

I also wandered through the historic streets, stopped by the Anatomical Theatre, explored the historic municipal library inside Palazzo dell’Archiginnasio, and of course, couldn’t resist trying Bologna’s famous gelato — it truly is exceptional here.

A special thank you to the guys from the local cycling community for an unforgettable two-hour night bike tour of the city — the best way to discover the Bologna only locals know.

Ahead are new cities and new encounters!
