Before the start, I bought a Polish touring bike — the Kross KR Trans 4.0 EXP, designed for long-distance routes.
For gear, I packed a +10°C sleeping bag, a tent, an inflatable mattress (Forclaz MT500 ISO L - 180 x 52 cm, R-Value 3.3), an inflatable pillow, and three waterproof pannier bags. I took with me a minimal set of clothes and hygiene essentials.
I left Warsaw at 7 a.m. on April 29. The route mostly followed bike paths and country roads, with a couple of kilometers through the forest. Along the way, I stopped by Piaseczno — a charming small town where everything breathes provincial tranquility. I took a look at the local town hall and a few houses that seemed straight out of an old postcard.
By lunchtime, I reached Warka. It’s a small but cozy town, known for its historic brewery. The atmosphere here is unhurried, as if time itself slows down.
I spent the night at Camping on the Pilica. They have a funny pricing system: 20 zlotys per person, 25 zlotys for a bike, and 20 zlotys for electricity. After doing the math, checking the weather, and thinking it over, I decided not to overcomplicate things and took a room for 100 zlotys.
