Day Five. May 3, 2025
Raków – Busko-Zdrój
I spent this day in Busko-Zdrój — one of the most famous spa towns in Poland. It’s a small, very well-kept, and green place, known for its mineral springs and healing waters. Since the 19th century, people from all over Europe have come here to improve their health. The town center is filled with parks, and old sanatoriums line the neat alleys many of them still in operation today.
The weather was clear in the morning, but by evening the sky darkened. The town moves at a slow, relaxing spa-town pace. People stroll along the alleys, sit in cozy cafés, and the local markets are full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade honey.
If you’re ever nearby, I highly recommend stopping by for at least a day to experience this unique atmosphere of history, mineral waters, and charming provincial Poland.
While looking for a place to stay overnight, I stopped by a hotel, and they recommended a campsite by a nearby lake. A great spot quiet, surrounded by trees, with a pond nearby. I paid 45 PLN. I barely made it before a storm rolled in. The campsite owners kindly offered me a covered gazebo to set up my tent under a small but very human gesture of care that means a lot when you're on the road. It was dry under the roof, with the sound of rain drumming above and the scent of wet grass in the air. A perfect ending to the day.
